I watched the video......can be back-filled , even covered with earth.......You can bet your sweet arse that I WOULD NOT enter or live in that rig with the additional load of Mutha Nature on and over this structure.

I guess it has a place, but a BUNKER it is NOT!!!
Can you see a 80 lb/sq ft load on that rig? sidewalls....roof...snow load...3" of rain.....I suppose if you had an EFM tall boy or a 900...perhaps a Keystoker W-30,
you could survive the implosion if you could get close to it.

well.... i agree somewhat with you but it is amazing at times to discover the strength or circles, domes, eggs, etc... their is a reason igloo's are shaped the way they are and their is a reason this shelter is a dome... it may be able to withstand pressures then one would assume at first glance

Hey Theo, pretty interesting. I went looking for a price on that stuff, you have to write the company in the UK for it. Seems it might be real expensive if they hide their prices!
I even looked for it on EBAY and EBAY UK but no luck.


I think I saw something similar in The Whole Earth Catalog many years ago. That was an extensive list of hippie-ish, back to the garden products and ideas; similar to The Mother Earth News. I still have it from around 1970 I think.
They had a similar technique to build a shelter with concrete and burlap bags! You have to make a framework with chicken wire, then get the burlap bags coated in wet cement and drape them on until you have it covered.
