Installing a hot air jacket this weekend. Drill bit ??

Hi all,

I am going to be installing my hot air jacket for my Pocono bottom vent this weekend. Will I need any type of special drill bit to make starter holes for the self tapping screws that came with the hot air jacket? Since the stoker is made of such strong metal I'm thinking it might need a special bit. Also what would be the best hole size to drill for the screws?

No drill bit needed. Just a good drill with a 5/16" driver.

Wow thank you for the quick response I can't wait to install it because I've been just heating the basement up to 78-82*F then letting the heat come up the basement stairs. I finally got all the ducting in to put it in the cold air return but I might try the below.

What do you think of putting it into the hot air duct supply line from the hot air jacket and letting it go out to my registers at a nice slow flow but constantly flowing with the basement door as my cold air return.

Also since this is such an excellent stoker I'm thinking of upgrading next year to a Leisure Line furnace or boiler with the oil backup. I'm very happy with the Leisure Line product I have.

I made my own for my HyFire and it really pushes the heat upstairs and the basement is much cooler.

Hi WNY, do you use the blowers that came with your Highfire? Also do you send the heated air through the cold or hot air return?
