Depression Has Set in... WTF Happened to the Patriots
SteveZee...I don''t think it is coincidence that the Welker drop (if you are talking about the same one I am) happened right after he got drilled on the hit that drew the flag. He might have got a little anxious, the replay made it look like he took his eyes off the ball, maybe looking for a d-back and getting ready for a hit.

I think it's gonna be a good Super Bowl!coalkirk wrote:The Ravens were in this positon last year. Lost to the pats due to a dropped pass to Lee Evans and a missed field goal to end the game. We promptly got rid of both of them. We are used to the Ravens not getting the respect they deserve. A miracle we got by Denver? I've heard that but if you saw that game they played their asses off. Every once in awhile there is a group of guys who really gel. This group of ravens gels and are a team in every sense of the word. They will be hard to stop in New Orleans. Many of you you will remember that the Harbaugh brothers already met in a Thanksgiving game a year ago. We Beat em.SteveZee wrote: I'm happy for the Raven's but better team, I'm not so sure. Was a miracle they got by Denver after all. None the less, there you have it. The Pats played one of the worst games I've seen this year. Brady was off target, Welker missed a catch he makes 99% of the time. Just played like crap. The Ravens won they earned it. Biggest problem was I jinxed the Pats by saying there was a possibility that The Harbough brothers could be facing each other in the Super Bowl! I know, I know, it's awesome having that much sway.........

If you are talking about the flag on Lewis for helmet to helmet, welker lowered his head. Lewis was heading for his chest. We backed up the DVR several times to watch it. BUT, the defender gets the call on him.titleist1 wrote:SteveZee...I don''t think it is coincidence that the Welker drop (if you are talking about the same one I am) happened right after he got drilled on the hit that drew the flag. Come on guys don’t lose sleep over the Patsies, it looks like their time has passed.
I would not say anything was fixed but I think TV and the NFL got the match up they wanted. For the next two weeks how many times will we hear about the two coaches being brothers?
‘49ers 35 – Ravens 28
You heard it here first!

It's the same with most good teams, they have their run & get the lower draft picks, players get older & slower then they have a downturn & they don't like to spend the money to rebuild.
not the Lewis hit, the one i'm thinking of was later in the game and there were two Ravens in on the hit, I think it was Pollard coming from midfield. I was doing email / order entry at the time and only half watching so I may not have it exactly correct.coalkirk wrote:If you are talking about the flag on Lewis for helmet to helmet, welker lowered his head. I thought the same thing about the Lewis hit, the receiver ducked into the helmet hit, but it doesn't matter in this NFL. Also, I thought the Pollard hit was more shoulder than helmet, but I guess that call was more of the defenseless receiver than helmet to helmet.

Yep that's the one and you're probably right. He said he was fine after, but very uncharicteristic for Wes not to snag that and get the 2 yrds. and a first down. I still think they should pay Wes some money and not franchise him again.

The Pats have never spent the big bucks with very few exceptions. Goes against Bob Kraft's method. It's old vets and new guys almost always. They may have had their run but year in year out they are close or there abouts. At least in the Kraft/Belichick era.samhill wrote:It's the same with most good teams, they have their run & get the lower draft picks, players get older & slower then they have a downturn & they don't like to spend the money to rebuild.

Much like the Rooney's & the Steelers but time & salary caps catch up, a few injuries to key players & there goes the season, they will come back but it takes some time & good picks.

Probably right Sam. In the end, it seems like every advantage needs to be used.samhill wrote:Much like the Rooney's & the Steelers but time & salary caps catch up, a few injuries to key players & there goes the season, they will come back but it takes some time & good picks.

That's what is so great about the NFL as opposed to Major Leauge Baseball. With the salary caps and the draft, everyone can be competive. Not like the Yankees that can just buy all the talent.

Ain't that the truth! Down here in SEC country it is amazing! They money spent on athletics at just the U of Tenn. for example is scary. But, they don't give two hoots about pro sports down here. Me? I am a lousy fan. I played all my life and would play ping pong rather then watch premadonna's play any game. I am competitive to the max.Every major leauge sports are a franchise making money off of us,even college sports are they same way.
I have felt pro sports are rigged ever since I got old enough to see how fake wrestling was on the old grainy antenna tv.

It all goes back to the Colleseum in Rome. People love entertainment. I think we are the only species that does that? Well my cats and dogs like a little entertainment too but modern sporting events have become the equiv of the Gladiators of old. We humans love to root for something. It's just part of our clannish past I guess? Collegiate sports are huge earners for the Universities as well. There has been many scandals to try and get a leg up since so much money is at stake! The worst has to have been the academic failures of some of the athletes.Dennis wrote:Every major leauge sports are a franchise making money off of us,even college sports are they same way.You need to go back to high school sports to get any sorme of sportsmanship and riverlydcrane wrote:It was all rigged....the fix was in in for the Bro's to match against each other... everyone was paid off LIES, LIES...its ALLLL LIES!
