Franco Belge 10.275 - new grate without taking all apart?

My right grate (the HOT side) burned thru. I pulled the coal and ashes out of that side hoping to slide in new parts without the stove hardly noticing.

It is looking like ALL the iron might have to come out, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Does anyone know if I can sneak in a new grate and holder? Out that front plate that the grates stick through, maybe?

Help, it's really cold! (of course)

The fire box has to come out. Take out the hopper and then the fire box lifts out then you can replace the grate. 5 minutes.

Thanks. I couldn't see anyway around it, because there wasn't a way around it ! Oh well. I never seem to get it back together in 5 minutes, though.

Coldest night so far and I have it apart and find I need the left grate, too. Oh well. Keller's in Northhampton stocks them, thank goodness.

Are you letting the ash build up too far in the ash pan? Empty once a day, more if you are burning a high ash coal or more than 40 pounds or so. The grates should last.
