Hello, not sure if this is the right place to ask since I have an oil burner, but I found this site after trying to figure out my venting problem. I have a Weil Mclain oil burner with a Tjernlund HST-1 power venter. The venter is kinda working. It turns on and if the burner isnt going, it will open damper slightly. If burner is on, the damper doesnt open. What is happening is I am getting exhaust fumes into my house now. I know the damper is open on the venter. It almost seems like it doesnt have enough speed or power to turn the cage fast enough. I really do not want to spend a ton of money on this system since I am looking at replacing the whole thing further down the road. Any help would be great. Thanks
Jere

The Tjernlund power ventor you have was discontinued in July of 2002 per the manufacturers web site. More than likely your gonna have a problem getting parts. The HST-1 was replaced with the HS1. A quick check shows prices ranging from $230 on Amazon to $265 from a HVAC supply house. A tech service call and replacement parts will run you that much or more.
You said your getting a lot of fumes. It's better to spend a few bucks now rather than wake up dead later.

You've probably noticed by now that a change over to coal heat would make your investment back in a relatively very short period of time as compared to oil
Just tryin to get going in the right direction partner

Yes, go ahead and make the switch to coal now. You will save money and have more to talk about here
We all want to hear that you have CO detectors in that house
Oh, Welcome to the show
I felt like I woke up dead a couple times, it's no fun.
