Finding someone to confidently weld it might be difficult. I have a buddy that is a most excellent welder, but he shys away from cast iron just because it's hit or miss. You can do it right & still have it go wrong....customers don't like that idea.

Might it be brazed?

I'd check with a local welding shop to see about their capabilities and pricing.

From my fellow shop owner in Windham, he said to try Timmons Machine in Windham. I realize it might be a little bit of a drive from Bath, but if they can fix it properly, it would be well worth the mid winter trek.

It might be better to take the entire stove to the welder(if possible) so they can make sure the door pins and latchs are lined up togather.I'd first ask the welder first if thats a good idea?

Which handle ?? Can you take a pic ?? I might be able to tell you how to get it opened. That is what I do for a living.

OK, I just saw the pic of your broken door.Just take the door parts to the welder, then afterwords your probibly going to need to somehow mill the door contact surface.During the welding process it will warp and need to be surface plained.

I'm sure they have seen worse. If your taking it to have restored, ask the restorer if they have a welder that they use. When it gets welded the surface contact will be warped and not have an air tight seal.

The ash pan door must be air tight to control the heat output and to prevent the stove from overfiring.VERY IMPORTANT to have the ash pan door sealing properly.A proper restorer will have no problem fixing it or to find another door.
