- Hand Fed Coal Stove: New Buck Corp. / MODEL 24 COAL
- Coal Size/Type: Pea, Nut / Anthracite
Nice weather to let the stove idle down and vac out the stove pipe and parts of the stove safely and still be in the one match club. Just got done with the Buck Model 24 and also the stove pipe. Nothing melted and no funny smells so I think we are in good shape. Now we are ready for the second half of the burning season.

cleaned out my hitzer today , revamped the black pipe by taking out the elbow and installing a T with a cap on the end now I can pull the cap and vacuum the thimble and get rid of the fly ash without tearing the whole pipe down...love these mid winter warm ups...can get all my brainey projects done and try them out before spring shutdown then have to wait all summer to see if it works...

...great day for a cleaning 45* up here in maine and the sun was shining. The stove loves a cleaning couple 3 times, vacuumed the blower fan and wrapped it with air filter material. Went to wally world and got a fresh bag of royal oak lump charcoal ( boy I love that stuff ) and building a slow fire with a mix of stove coal and 'nut, mostly 'nut. Wife wanted to take the chill out of the air with the furnace

Cleaned out last week,Scrubed inside walls, removed and cleaned the fly ash from brick baffles and vaccumed out the stove pipe without shutting down, witch took about 1-1/2 hrs. Yesterday while walking by the CO Detector in the basement,I happened to check it and to my surprise it regestered 117,never thought about it but the door was open for 1-1/2 hrs,no harm but good to know the detectors are working/registering,but didn't go off.I'm good till shut down in spring or early may.
