Questions About City Glenwood 14 Cylinder Stove

Hi Everyone - Getting to my other stove question - Emery at Antique Stove Hospital was very bullish on the City Glenwood stoves. He said his son heated his house with one for $300 a couple of years ago. I purchased a size 14 on eBay yesterday in Rhode Island. Even though the guy said it was complete with all trim, it may be missing the upper nickel beauty rim. I hate to bother Emery again - does anyone know if they may have parts for these stoves? I'm picking it up next weekend, which is when I'll get a good look at it.

No parts other than from guys such as Emory, or Barnstable stove, or Byants in Maine. You might find some on e-bay but thats a crap shoot. If it's missing anything let us know and possibly someone can help you find it.

Hi Chris. If you can send some photos showing an original City Glenwood 14, I mean a complete one, maybe some members could get some links for you. Like Steve just said some antique stoves stores can help you about the missing parts. Emery would certainly be happy to help you.

That top ring is not there just for decoration. It aids quite materially toward the stove's efficiency. Its purpose is to break up the heated air rising along the barrel of the stove and forces it outward. A circulating current is then set up and the heat is distributed away from the stove much better than without it.

That is very similar to my Star Herald Chris. It should not be to big of a deal to find that top ring. These are great little stoves and make allot of heat for the size.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed on the trim ring being somewhere in this guy's garage.

I actually considered canceling my eBay purchase, since the item might not be as described. However, I decided to get the stove at that price ($85.00) since they're probably not very common?

Otherwise I'll be on the prowl looking for the ring - not sure where though, unless I let Emery restore it, and maybe he can source it.

Now I just have to incur the wrath of the wife - another stove????
