cant seem to get enough heat out of my keystoker any help?

i bought this stove off my brother who maybe used it a total of a month (he bought it brand new) but it wouldnt keep his house warm...he didnt have a chimney and had to use a power vent wich made me think it was sending all the heat out...so i thought i would try it with a chimney because i used to burn wood so i took the power vent off and i plumbed everything up put a barometric dampener on it and fired it up..now when its 30-40 out it will heat you out of house, but below that to negative numbers it doesnt hardly put any heat out...i put a plenum and ran duckt work to the center of my house (2200sq ft with blown insulation) ive tryed adding pins turning the adjuster knob up and cant seem to get my house above 58 degrees...not real sure of the model the manual that came with it is pretty vague.. but i do know it is a 160,000 btu keystoker with a thermostat wich should be more than enough...any help would be greatly appeciated

Sounds liike it may be a koker 160 ?
pics would be helpful.
Where is it located in the house?
What is your draft reading
any more info would be helpful...so as people here will have a better understanding of your set up.
its imparative tbat your chimney is clean...as you were burning wood previously.

We need model, what size coal, did you check draft with manometer and pictures of fire on demand. On info you shared , pins will not help, they are used for preventing fire on going out during idle time. How much ash on end of grate? How much red coal on grate? How many turns on feed rate

At a 160,000 btu I'm guessing it's a Koker forced air furnace.

I am wondering if by chance you were awarded the coal pile along with the furnace? Have you tried a different brand of coal by any chance? Same problem both locations could point to the fuel,just a thought. Mike

Where is the thermostat located? can you hear it clicking when you turn it up?

Whats your FEED SCREW Set at? how many turns?

How much Coal is burning on the grate? AT full burn you should have about 1" of ash at the end, if you have more, then you need to adjust your feed screw 1 turn at a time.

Keystoker has updated manuals posted on their website. It may help you more looking at the new koker write up. LOTS of people have kokers, and I have yet to hear anyone complain about not enough heat being produced. Once you get it dialed in you will see the light!!

Like mentioned above, make sure your feed screw is turned in (clockwise, like you were tightening a bolt) enough to burn enough coal to keep up with you house temps.

it is loacated in my basement, the chimney is 6" triplewall stainless i cleaned the chimney before installing the coal stove....i did recieve the coal that he had with it as well.. the thrmostat is upstairs and yes i can hear it click on at the stove...it has about a 2" bed of burning coals on the grate and about 4 " of ash from the end....that is the way it always is it doesnt change?....really dont know much about coal stoves...thanks for the help

Looks to me like your stoker stroke needs ajustment. Turn your stoker ajustment screw all the way clockwise. Then back it off(counter clockwise) approx: 2-3/4 - 3-3/4 turns. Somewhere in that area. My ajustment is 3-3/4 turns counter clockwise. This brings my ash within 1 inch from end of grate at full fire. The little tab on the end of the stoker ajustment screw is off set. The longer part hangs down, and kind of acts as a weight so the ajusting screw doesn't turn one way, or the other. (Less feed = counter clockwise, More feed = clockwise). Another thing I'd do is give that nylon wheel in the pusher block a shot of silicone. Myself, I use tef-gel lubricant. It's a penetrating gel lubricant, which doesn't atract dirt, etc.. I buy it by the case from lauson products for use in my business. I'm not sure where you'd be able to buy it. Oliver

Yup, that's a Koker, 160K btu/hr.

You will be pleased once you get it all dialed in.

When you get a good warm spell you may want to give the walls and exhaust passage-ways a good scrubbing.

Stove isn't working hard, increase feed rate. Warmer weather give it a good proper cleaning
