This month 100%, due to the fact my oil burner is refusing to light. Keeps popping the motor reset. And you know what? I'm not even worried. My house is "mostly" warm enuff, and everyone likes hanging out near the stove. Reminds me, I need to call the oil moguls, and have my tank topped off. (For the 1st time since Oct.). That's a rarity. Usually, I'ld've needed it over a month ago. And will need some advice on my burner dilemma also.

Turn off burner and get access to and turn fan by hand to check if it moves freely. If it does not move freely and has oil ports, you should be able to free it up by oiling and working back and forth by handjoeq wrote:This month 100%, due to the fact my oil burner is refusing to light. If it moves freely, then most likely the starter switch inside the motor needs to be replaced. Many sellers on Ebay

Thanx for the tip Franco, but the entire unit is concealed. I tried to remove what appeared to be a cover at the end of the electric motor, which was retained by 4 screws, to maybe access the fan, or motor. I was hoping that's what held the back plate on. Unfortunately, the screw I loosened, wasn't a short one to retain the cover, but a long one that went the length of the motor. And if it was threaded into what was probably a nutplate, of course the nutplate has now dropped, and the screw will go all the way in, without hitting anything inside. (My luck). I believe it's a Carlin burner, and I happen to have an extra one, that worked, (about 20 yrs ago), that was on my old hot water boiler, so maybe I can do some "learning" on that one. Thanx again.

From Jan 2014 I have using coal to heat the house and hot water . I was using wood for 3 years and it was free ( other then getting it home and cutting and spitting it ) > Coal last the night where wood would need to feed in the middle of the night . With coal it would last up to 12 hours before I had to load it . In the summer I switch to Electric hot water heater . The only time oil is used when its going to be above 53 degrees for a couple of days. Because if a used coal I would need to open the window to keep the house below 80
