wow... most people wont realize the magnitude of Zimmermann's genius, he is one of the best coders/programmers on the planet. I can see laws being changed in this country because of this software

It would require a complete book to talk about all the potential upside and downsides to this, Ive always been leery of facebook, instagram and even simple texting, etc. (people do not realize that EVERYTHING YOU DO, SAY and SEND is saved FOREVER and can be retrieved super simply with a court order (or if your the government LOL). This is a specific software that makes all of the above impossible to retrieve (Gov. is going to have serious issue with this!)

They will insist on a back door and so he will move out of the country. Or will he? My guess he will say no back door and then someone will buy the company and put one in once he has made his pile. Follow the money. He will cash out once it's everywhere but it is an interesting hope. War will go on with Janet insisting terrorists are using it so they have to break it/ban it . Al Qaeda has long used our surveillance tech. against us. Real messages get left in dumpsters on chewing gum wrappers. The best defense system is my system - anonymity being a nobody is the only defense. Of course, the best spies have known that for hundreds of years.

They said they are going to make this an open source (which means it will be available to everyone! (like PHP, HTTP, etc.) This is why I believe laws will be made to allow Gov backdoor (which essentially takes away the very reason for the encryption coding). Supreme Court here we come!

... and you expect them to protect us! All your comments are fair but what is to stop you using the source code in your own system very slightly modified. Don't say copyright or I will laugh. That is the interesting part as this morphs into our nuclear weapon against these creeps. It's PGP on steroids and it will change the world as we disappear within the US now that is the macrotrend. It's like trying to grip hold of jelly. So Jack you are ahead of the world.

I am not sure how I missed this thread. But I am simply amazed like OMG. Un believable and all. Coalnewbie has an IPAD.
