Been snowing since 0800 here. A thin layer on the grass, but just starting to build up in spots on the road now.

Why the hell did they name this storm ... and who comes up with these names anyway???

Hurricanes names are already set and they recycle them every 6 years unless retired for major storms.

Doing a little research it appears the Weather Channel took it upon themselves to draw up their own list of names for winter storms. Makes for good TV I guess if you have a name.

It's not doing anything here yet, supposed to get a few inches.

It's all about the marketing, much easier to hype something if it has a name.

Nothing in northern Maine yet , maybe 3 - 6 inches or so coming . In southern Me. they are getting hit hard . There was a 19 car pile up on 95 , witnesses were saying some people were hitting other cars and not even stoping , they just kept on going as though nothing happened . It really makes one wonder what this country is coming too .

Pile-ups are an issue...
Wait and see here on The Cape...
The wind yes we will have it...
Snow or rain depends...
Still 34* here but wind is picking up...

Left Bretton Woods NH at 7 this morning, ( had to cut short the Ski/snowboard trip to get back to CT. to beat out the storm) Winds were 20 mph and snowing pretty good making for interesting white knuckle driving....and this was NOT part of Storm NEMO, just a normal type event in the north country.

By the time I hit Worcester the roads were clear but wet and when I hit the CT border it was sticking to the surface. Had to drive another 1hr round trip to pick up my parents and bring them here in the event of power outage ( dad's disabled and Mom's just diagnosed with Alzheimer's ) So a major winter storm could be very dangerous for them.

As of 3:50pm about 1-1/2" in North Eastern Ct. ( 15 mins west of RI and 30mins south of Mass.)

News Flash!! Storm NEMO no longer a Threat.

Well... that's because for some reason they're now calling it Storm Charlotte ...well at least on Ct. TV stations. Jeeze.

Figures. Our idiot governor was on TV today saying he's gonna throw us all in jail for driving after 4pm today. What a bunch of shitheads we have running this state ...

There's a grand total of .7" - yes POINT 7 INCHES - on the ground so far.  Wife lost 2 days pay for this??? WTF ... :wtf:

Starting to blow around now. Wind speeds steadily increasing and the barometer is steadily dropping. If we end up with a foot I'll be shocked.
