new to forum, hello

PostBy: home harvest On: Fri Feb 08, 2013 3:04 pm

I just wanted to introduce myself, and say Hi!

I live outside of Bloomsburg. I bought my Harman Mark II used almost 10 years ago from Stoltz's Stoves, and we love it. It resides in a basement rec room and gets a workout with wood spring and fall, and coal all winter.

I found this forum through youtube, and I'm so glad I did. Not that I have many questions anymore, but it's nice to have a source of information when you need it.

I'm looking forward to jumping in where I feel I can help, or at least add to the conversation. Aside from burning wood & coal, I like to hunt, fish, shoot, and argue politics. We also raise most of our own meat, mostly poultry (chickens & turkeys). I hope I can bring something of interest to the table.

Welcome HH, with 10 years under your belt you can most likely help others as well, always room for another coal burner.

Thanks everyone.

I'm only 52, but those "retirement naps" sound pretty good! :D

As far as coal burning goes, this year is certainly different from last. I used so little coal last year that I didn't need to buy any for this year. But my stove has been burning steady for almost 6 weeks already. I'm probably halfway through my 3 ton supply, so it looks like I'll need to resupply. I'm sorry to see that the prices are up. Oh well, still better than oil. And I'll stretch the fly line very soon.

Welcome to the forum. I too fine this forum has a lot of info. Bought a used Mark 1 for a 30x28 family room. It's ok for that room but my family want heat in other places. Our 1885 home with numerous additions over the years need a larger stove. Got one Mark 111 new. I hope this one will heat up the place to the point we have to open the windows. George.
