I don't care how many neuros he has surged, his "solutions" are simpleminded, not simple.
DR. CARSON: Here's my solution: When a person is born, give him a birth certificate, an electronic medical record, and a health savings account to which money can be contributed -- pretax -- from the time you're born 'til the time you die.
OK, so at birth your kid gets an HSA, and on day 2 the doctor says, "He has a hole in his heart. But don't worry, we can cure it with $550,000 worth of surgeries over the next two years."
There you go! Just cash in your $500 "starter" HSA, and you can pay for the 30 seconds it took the doctor to explain about the hole. And then cash in your house, and your retirement funds, and hope that Mom and Dad will die pretty soon and leave you a few thousand, and maybe the neighbors will hold a bake sale for you if they haven't lost interest by tomorrow, and Golly! Problem Solved! Thank you, Dr. Carson!
Or, should you maybe have insurance?
