It seems there is a long tradition of giving femine names to our toys. ie Boats and Cars. So does the same apply to our stoves? A question for the ages perhaps?

How about "Gemma" as a name for your stove. A little "Hat Tip" to Sons of Anarchy" as well...... :P

The name will come to you after you use them for awhile. Every stove has its own unique personality.

Obi Wan has spoken!

Still I wouldn't mind suggestions so when the time comes I have some ideas to go with. :D Anyone else name their stoves?

Never thought about naming the stove.

Olix works for me. Kind of Norse, macho sounding.
And the brand of the stove. :)

My sister named the Glenwood No 9 in the living room, its name is Albert.
The Glenwood No 6 has a good turn of the century woman's name, its name is Molly.

I had a name for mine this week when she was giving me "issues". (I will not post those name here). However, when I found out that it was all my fault about the "issues", I forgave her and will have to find a more appropriate name.

Wow,,, You lucked out picking up a stove in that condition!

Could you post some pictures of the top of the fire pot and check damper? Also the back of the ash pan area? --> It is so similar to my Magee, I was wondering if Crawford and Magee could have possible shared casting molds or worked together manufacturing stoves.
Both companies plants were within 10 miles of each other.

Hello William!!

I just posted an update on the Magee Crown.

Every thing you stated about my stove was dead on...

I could not be happier and want to say Thank you to you personally William as I feel that you deserve the most credit for enlightening the coal burning world to the ease and efficiency of these works of art.

You can't rush on the name. You have to have patience. When the time is right it will hit you like lightning. Then you will say to yourself, I like that name. Hang in there and stay warm.

Ash

I will endeavor to get those pics for you.

It would not surprise me one bit if the Crawford is exaclty or nearly exact to your Magee. Crawford, Magee and Glenwood were all made right here in Taxachusetts and from what I understand each company ripped each other off with wanton disregard. Now who stole what from who and when I don't know. Perhaps "Obi-Wan" does?

Thank you very much. These things advocate themselves all you have to do experience them and that's it. All I have done is allow people some knowledge so they are aware that there are choices.

Ash

I am working on the pics for you... Having some computer issues.... Like I HATE THIS LAPTOP!!!

If anyone is looking for an old Army Cannon Heater the guy I got my Crawford from has a couple up for sale. A #20 and a #15. The #20 is one BIG unit.. WOW! I would love to have one of those myself. Then it would never snow around where I live from the heat bubble emiting from the house.
