This is the first day I have had good coffee. Since going back to work at the Shipyard it has been a dead ahead run. They just realized that though they saved a lot of money by laying off hundreds of workers, they also didn't get much built, so now it has gone from working 0 hours to working 90. I could have even worked today, Presidents Day, but with the blizzard going on, and no days off in awhile, I decided to stay home instead though it means losing out on Double and a Half Time. I had applied to other shipyards over the last few months of lay-off, and sure enough, on the first day back to the Navy Shipyard, another shipyard calls and wants me to work for them! I guess it is feast or famine in the shipbuilding industry!Blizzard
: Part of that reason is I think this storm, still blowing 50 mph as I type this, might have snapped a truss in my home. I told you guys (and gals) before that the wind slams into the house, and now I got a real loud creaking and cracking sound coming from my attic. I think it might be in the connections on the bottom cord of the outside truss, but will have to climb into the attic and see. It is so loud we had to drag the mattress in the living room and sleep there as it would have kept us up all night.Wife:
As for the wife, ultrasound confirmed her kidneys are loaded with kidney stones. Not much they can do as she is pregnant and cannot even take good pain killers. She has been a real trooper though, and since I am back at work working 13 hour days, she has been taking care of the kids, taking care of the farm and keeping the wood/coal fire going, all while being 7 months pregnant!! She really has had to step it up this week and has done well.Valentine's Day:
She got rewarded for her efforts though! She might be a farm girl, but she is not into Carhartts and Hammers, she likes her skirts and heels, and so I bought her the ole stand by Valentines Day gift that works for all women...shoes! I bought her some go-anywhere sneakers (Keds, which were popular back in the 1990's, but are now making a come-back in the fashion world), but also a pair of heels). I went out on a limb and bought some Pink Blush colored heels which I was not sure she would like, but she ended up loving them, and we got to go out to a nice dinner on Saturday. She wore her little black maternity dress, and now that she has a sizable baby bump, there is no question as to whether or not she is chubby, or possibly having a baby...it is all baby now. So now she has 86 pairs of shoes to choose from when we go out, instead of 84, because we all know, "accessorizing makes the outfit".
