You ever get a mind block?

You ever get a mind block?

PostBy: Richard S. On: Sun Feb 24, 2013 9:19 pm

I ask because it's almost a daily occurrence now. I've never learned to type but at this point I'm pretty damn fast with the hunt and peck method. Some letters have worn off my keyboard. E - R and T is the trouble spot becsue they are right together. If I'm just typing and letting my fingers do their thing I have no trouble finding these letters but when I actually try and look for the key...... Hmmmmmmm. And that makes it worse becsue now I'm thinking about it and not letting my fingers do their thing.

It can be embarrassing too. Years ago I'm having this conversation with the neighbor and I point to this object on the ground and I went just blank, for the life of me I couldn't remember the name curb.

Yes. I have trouble remembering the name of a town a few miles away. Names of famous movie actors that I know very well.

What is annoying is using some lame word or substitute instead of the one you want.

Years ago the Boy Scout manual had a little picture for each letter of the Morse code to help remembering. The letter K was a picture of a kettle over a fire with a cross piece through the handle. Dash dot dash. That's the only one I remember, but if you need help on the letter K in Morse, I am your man.

The town I can't remember but now I can, is Wingdale. I picture a wing and that helps to remember the rest.

I can never remember the herb ginkgo but always remember the tree it comes from which is maiden hair.

I think a lot about the hereafter. I wander about the room saying What am I hereafter.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The nearer you get to the end the faster it goes.

A man had that same trouble so he asked a friend what he could do. The friend told him the next time it happened to just ask the person how they spelled their name. Seemed like a good idea so the next time he could not remember he tried it. The person answered S M I T H.

Someone once told me there is nothing wrong with talking to yourself, it's when someone talks back you have the problem.

At work, we all take lunch together. We call it collective stupidity when no one
in the room can remember a name or a place that we all know. Like typical
Dutchmen we give directions using landmarks that have been gone for 25 years,
but we can't remember the name of the landmark.

When I was delivering I used to get all kinds of crazy directions for landmarks, the most memorable was "Make a left after the burned down barn".
