coalbrookdale darby shaker nub broken

coalbrookdale darby shaker nub broken

I have been using this website for several years now and really appreciate all the good tips and information I have picked up over the years.

I have a Coalbrookdale Darby stove and the end of the rod that the shaker handle connects to has broken off. Anybody have this problem? Seems like it would be a widespread issue. The nub on the end of the shaft was pretty well worn when we bought the stove with our house. We haven't actually used the shaker handle to shake the stove in years.

Not able to find a replacement part at Woodman's.

I found it as part #6 in the below parts diagram on one of the UK websites but I did not find an actual part name for it:

In the blown-up picture on Woodman's it is #14 and the diagram calls it the Shaker Grate Axle Hub:

Does anybody have one available? What have others done after the little nub wears out?

Thanks,
Brian

It would be a pretty easy fix to drill into the old shaft and insert a new piece of steel and file as necessary for the shaker tool. Need a lathe though, but could be done on a drill press with care. Cross drill and pin or braze to hold in place.
