Called around to have windows installed.... first guy I called SHAAADDDYY. Oh yeah "thats my specialty" type talk you all know the type. Tell him Im not interested in his business. 3 weeks go by, come home from grocery shopping today and his pamphlet and business card is stuck in my door?! I live in Dushore and he is a contractor in Berwick about an hour at the minimum away. Called him up and told him I thought I made myself clear not interested. Should I be worried about this fella?

Maybe the guy is just hungry for business and was passing through?

Call him and tell him you will file a complaint with the State Attorney Generals office if he tries to contact you again. Tell him you consider it harassment. I'm gonna say a high percentage of these scammers will talk and talk and tell you everything you want to hear. Around here in the Pocono's, I would say that 50% do actual good work and use good materials. If you can't do it yourself, learn how and do it yourself.

Of course like Rob said he may of been in the area & just looking for more work. BUT--yes, check anybody out like mozz suggested. If I keep listening to a bunch of you guys, I might start locking my house up & not leaving my keys in my truck--- toothy Oh, that's right, I REALLY live in the sticks ;)

Sounds like you are over reacting. Someone up to no good doesnt leave their card and pamphlet in your door.

More than likely he was in the area quoting another job or working or passing through. Double check the info on the card to make sure it is real, but I doubt he would have left card with contact info if he was real bad news.

I have done similar stuff when I am in an area. If I have 1 appointment in an area I will call around to other contacts I have the days before to set other stuff up. Especially if I am driving 1 - 2 hours for the appt. With the price of gas I like to have more than 1 thing going on to get me to drive that far. I have my contact data base in my laptop so that I can search by city if I am somewhere and have an appointment cancel I can call around to try to fill the time.

I guess I may be, but I informed him way back when I was not interested in his services... might have been to polite I guess. Just creeped me out a touch. :wtf:

Talking about doing it myself, Grandfather has given me nothing but hell since the wife and I decided to have our windows replaced. He built houses for 50+ years and thinks im nuts having someone else but me and him do 'em. I had to remind him we have a basement door to dig out and install, a deck to build, another bedroom to drywall... list goes on. He understood.

Go with your instinct, you can never be too careful..
Maybe he was hoping you would reconsider and hire him for the job.

If his address is on the card and you happen to be in his area, stick it in his door with your note! Also a chance to look at his handy work.

My experience has been that contractors houses are usually not all that great even if they do fantastic work.
