One of my buddies had one of them, only a few years older. I did quite a bit of work to it to get it perfect for him. He rode the crap out of it ... I think like 20,000 a year!
I've been scouring the web reading & shopping for the RD since November. So far, I've got brand new throttle & clutch cables (complete!) , all my tranny bearings, some clutch springs & assorted tranny related springs, a new neutral switch plate, new Progressive Model 14 rear shocks, some RZ intake manifolds with crossover tube, & a brandy new set of DG chambers!
What I have left is every rubber seal in the motor, some carb modifications, & the front suspension parts. Getting Progressive springs with Race Tech emulators -- this thing is going to be kick ass suspension wise this spring! That will eat up the tax returns. Once I get all the parts I'll yank the motor & get started -- no sense having it sit in pieces in my cluttered barn. I want to get on it & do all of it at one time.
I'm in the middle of negotiating a full crank rebuild, cylinder boring & a porting job in trade for a BW80. Won't cost me a thing but my time.
This thing is gonna RIP when I'm done! Can't wait!!
