I'm not sure what you mean, but Ural has been building them since the 40s.

Pretty clear I know NOTHING about them - thought they stopped making them for a while and got bought up & remade again ...

..... but I'm probably thinking of Indian ... or Excelsior-Henderson (which went under again actually).

Gotcha! Ya, you'd think a Russian company making heavy, underpowered, often unreliable bikes wouldn't be able to stay in business, but they are flourishing! They did get some help from a Canadian company in 05-06 to upgrade their manufacturing processes so the 07 and newer bikes are significantly more reliable.

Av8r,

That's a pretty cool looking ride. Those were modeled after a WW2 airhead Beemer if I'm not mistaken. I've only ever seen a couple but many many airheads over the years. I have a soft spot for old Beemers like this old R-32.

I took lots of rides to the bank & post office. Not many long hauls this season. Haven't been on a real ride in 6 years! I sold my Harley Night Train this year because I put 250 miles on it in the past 3 seasons. With that money I picked up that Roadliner I posted a page or so back - put about 300 or so on that this year, about 700 or so on the RD, and about 80 miles on the '84 XL350R. I definitely don't get out as much as I used to.

When I was 17, I'd put 1,000 miles on in a couple weekends! 7,000 miles a year, and that was only warm weather rides - so basically 2 months out of the year. I miss those days. Traffic was MUCH lighter, and so was the police presence ....

No kiddin! We all miss those days for sure. Pretty cool you still have and run that RD though Smitty. I loved those back in the day. In high school I had a Suzuki X6 Hustler and then an RD 350. Used to love smoking the Honda 350's of the day. Did love that old Honda 305 scrambler though, Made a glorious noise with the washers in the back of the pipes you could twist. :D
