Are they now electing the last pope?

PostBy: samhill On: Tue Mar 12, 2013 2:31 pm

If you do some reading you may find reference to this being our last Pope if that is you believe in this sort of thing. I believe I remember something about that from Nostradamus & another Malarkey (maybe).

Considering the rise of Iran, North Korea, and the resurgence of Russia along with the emergence of the first anti-American president, I am inclined to worry about Nostadamus. Throw in the first resignation of a Pope in hundreds? of years and there are some mighty strange things happening in the world today.

I don't follow any sort of religion. I know just enough to be dangerous I guess, but I dont put much stock into things that I cannot see with my own 2 eyes.

That being said, I believe the rise of Iran, NK, and Russia is nothing new. It has been happening right before our eyes for years, but we are too blinded with what is going on in our own country to pay it much mind. I would say 75% of Americans don't and won't give a damn until another country is parachuting into their back yards...

What we need to do is get our heads out of the sand and start realizing what is going on in our country.

Catholocism will not die, even though the attacks from the atheists are relentless. Not that certain Catholics haven't caused enough harm to the Church, but this happens in all faiths and we are not unique or alone unfortunately.

The problem is that preaching self sacrifice and poverty while living in the richest nation per capita on earth.

It's a bit of a mixed message.

It seems Pope Francis understood this in his previous position, let's see if he'll be allowed to do the same in his new one.

Self sacrifice, maybe. Poverty? No - in all my years in church and CCD in my younger days, I was never taught that poverty was a good thing.

I was taught, however, that it is our duty to help those in need. NOT the government's.

Right!

So how do you preach that message wearing silk clothes, carrying a gold cross, on the balcony of your palace under protection of your own private army?

Jeff,

Should we drape the Pope in soiled linens and raze the buildings within the Vatican?

Should we attend services inside of someone's home or under cloth tents?

The Catholic Church has done good in the world, sometimes not, but I would rather have a world with a Pope than without.

Is that your opinion of say...Mother Theresa? That she wore soiled rags and didn't do any good?

Seems to me she lived the life the church preaches but has a hard time living.

And I'm at least giving this new guy the benefit of the doubt. From the stories I've heard, he will be "in the trenches" as much as they'll allow him to be.

At the same time, I generally believe the "Pope" as a figurehead will turn out to be the anti-Christ if you believe in that sort of thing.

If the good Lord returns, and his administrator on earth didn't know about it, it looks bad for the guy sitting in the chair at the time.

Do you mean the world didn't end last December???

I guess I'll take this prediction with the same amount of salt I used on that one.
