March 2012 vs. March 2013

PostBy: lsayre On: Sat Mar 16, 2013 6:46 pm

Last year in these parts the month of March averaged out at a mean temperature of 52 degrees per day. So far this March is holding at a mean of 33.0 degrees. 19 degrees colder on average. Last March we burned 996 lbs. of coal all month. So far this month I've loaded 756 lbs. of coal into the boiler, and we are only at about mid month. No comparison.

I heat a portion of my house with propane, and usually don't consume the 300 gallons I contract for. This year I will go significantly over -- I'm already at 275 gallons.
