Many years ago my wife had an end of winter party late January to celebrate the supposed end of winter. Full shorts and Hawaii gear for guests was mandatory (it was freezing outside). The house was at 90F (HO was 49c a gallon) lots of booze and everybody had a great time.... and winter did not let go until May which for the L. Hudson valley was a disaster. She was told that if she ever had another one the many death threats that came in the mail would be more than just idle thoughts.

I was planning to get another trailer of coal from the hills this morning. I looked up the forecast for the coal region and one single word has canceled my excursion .Freezing __ICE,__now here is a guy that has a bunch of respect for ice on the highways.I am down to my last hopper so I will be on oil before I get coal. The rig stays in the driveway and I will go to the corner now for the rest of the day due to my lack of proper planning. Mike

4"-7" projected here on top pf the 6" we got on Saturday. They were calling for 1"-3" Saturday...they missed the mark big time. After this weekend and today, I will have officially used the snowblower more then I did all year and all of last year.

This time last year we were fishing open water and smashing channel cats. The ice is still very thick on the lakes today.

If it is heavy and wet I am fully expecting to lose power. Thank God for the radiant heat of the Hitzer.

We are also getting low on coal, this is the latest I have burned in the 3 years we have been in the new house. However, I do have some nice red oak out back that burns hot and gets the house up to 85 in no time if need be.

As I type this the wind is picking up. To add to it we have 4 sick kids and the wife isnt feeling so good today either. I am the loan soldier.

They have no friggin' idea what it's supposed to do here. Right now it's partly sunny, cold. But they are saying it's supposed to start doing something around noon. They aren't sure what, could be snow, could be rain, could be ice, could be giant falling rocks, fire falling from the sky. Then they are like, "We're not expecting any accumulation as the roads will be warm and it will be above freezing, but you could see 2-4"." :what:

All I know is I wish I had the weather man's job. It's the only job where one can say, "Yeah, I'm not sure. It might do this, might do that...orrrr it could do this but you should totally expect something...maybe...or not...eh....through all the chips in the air and see where they land...or don't...I don't really care....is my new Porsche in? Great!!!" and not get fired.

I've got enough coal for another few weeks then I'm spent. Maybe it's time to place an order.

They have no idea here in my area either as one says 10 to 15 inches the other says a couple of inches with some freezing rain .I guess we will have to take what we get, like it or not . I can remember getting 17 inches in the middle of April one year so nothing new for here .

You guys will love this one...I was an idiot and took the plow off my truck a few weeks ago, hence the snow... Went to put the plow back on today and it was a complete disaster. My F350 sits pretty high, so the only way to get the right angle on the plow frame is to unhook it on blocks or a pallet. I had the plow on a pallet, drove up to it, lined up on first shot! Got out, gave it a couple yanks to line up the pins and the jack-stand promptly broke through the pallet. There it sat, jammed on the pallet, and too low to engage the plow frame on the truck. I went and got a big pry-bar and some blocks, and after 15 minutes I had it blocked at the correct height. Drove the truck ahead, and the instant it touched the plow it fell of the blocks and halfway off the pallet. To top it off, when I jumped out of the truck to assess the situation and stepped in fresh dog *censored*. At that point I decided to park the truck. I am so fed up with that plow I am not even going to look at it until the snow has melted. If it really does snow 10" the guy up the road can make a fast $30 and plow my driveway.
