You can take jimmy Carter and 18% interest everybody was paying at the time too, I liked him as a person too, but I remember some problems in the country at that time also.

I think we give too much credit/blame to who ever is in office at the time.

I don't know about you, but most of my problems are no one's fault but my own.

For a bigger eye opener assuming 300 million people in the US and rounding the profits to 40 billion that's $114 profit for every man woman and child in the U.S. That doesn't include the other oil companies either which of course is going to drive that figure much higher.

"Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne gave away nearly $7 million last year to help the poor and to medical research.
According to income tax information released by the White House on Friday, the Cheneys' adjusted gross income in 2005 was $8,819,006. The Cheneys gave more than three-quarters of their income - $6,869,655 - to several charities, including George Washington University's Cardiothoracic Institute and a charity for low-income high school students in the Washington, D.C. area, Capital Partners for Education.

The Cheneys' charitable generosity stands in marked contrast to that of their predecessors, whose sometimes stingy donations became a national embarrassment.
In 1997 for instance, Al and Tipper Gore contributed just $353 to charity".

You still believe anything preceded by the phrase........" According to information released by the White House".......

Unverified White House claims aren't worth the paper that the press release was printed on. Who's gonna refute those claims?....The IRS can't, by law! I think they can safely be given the same credence that Mr. Cheney's other claims about WMD in Iraq & his explanation of why it took a day for him to report shooting his friend in the face!......Come on now!

Look.....I am not a conspiracy buff by any means but this administration has not earned the right to have it's citizens believe a word they say on any subject. Having worked for the IRS as an investigator for many years (prior to transfering to DEA) my thoughts are this:

1. Double Books.. Many shady individuals & businesses keep two sets of books. One, honest & real & the other to show the IRS.
2. Anyone can photcopy a tax return & put anything they want on it & that is not even a crime. The only accurate tax return the law requires you to file is the one you file with the IRS, & that one is a strict secret that cannot be released by the IRS.
3. If that is,in fact, his real tax return it simply is a document disclosing what the Cheney's wish to report to the IRS.,.....It may very well be fraudulent & not include vast amounts of income from Haliburton, Blackwater & major oil companies....Is that not possible?

My point is that these guys are liars & anyone who trusts a word they say, without independant verification, is crazy.

A friend of mine just returned from Iraq, he has pics of a pile of cylenders of Sarin gas, The pile appears as large as a pick up truck. not a huge stock pile by any means. but you never heard it reported in the media.

I guess they consider sarin about as dangerous as a fart in the wind!
