Political Opinions

All politicians "lie". You know how you can tell? Their lips are moving. Only they call it spinning. GHW Bush didn't take out Saddam because they didn't want to have to occupy Iraq, plain and simple. Now before you jump all over that, it must be said that this was pre 9/11. I know that's an overused phrase but the world changed dramatically for us after that. The 9/11 attacks were so a low budget scheme with alot of bang for the buck. Al Quieda is always looking to up the anty so imagine the next attack with chemical, biologial or radiological elements. G. bush felt in light of the prevailing intelligence available that Saddam had to be taken out, espeically while we were right next door. Like I said yesterday, I beleive Clinton would have done the same thing in his position. We've had that debate. Besides, the Cheney quote was from 1992. Containment was a good strategy at that time.
I've got the flu and feel like 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag. Someone else will have to spar today, I'm going back to bed.

Believe it or not, I agree that 9/11 changed the world dramaticaly & is at the root of alot of our problems. Go take some drugs & hope you feel better. (I've also had something for almost 2 weeks & just can't seem to shake it)

Are you saying that Cheney might not have been saying what he really believed but was simply protecting his President.

IMO...yes...but we know what opinions are worth...I won't say he was or wasn't lying...I'll call it Cheney's correct "political" response at the time.

I believe we in the opening skirmishes of WWIII. Things are going to get alot worse before they get better.

I disagree with the WWIII. It may be a sense of security on my part but I just don't see it happening in my life time. Also if it does happen like it did back in history...Axis vs Allies for example...countries vs countries, you don't want to be going against the U.S. in traditional warfare. If I start to discuss that last comment we're going to need a new thread

I just don't agree with this Devil. If only 1 GI died in the entire 1998 year in the Arabian Gulf, that is 1 too many for me. America is numbers sensitive today but they didn't care enough before 9/11. If 10 GIs died in a 1998 helocopter crash in Kuwait America would say "wow...what a shame! Well that's the risk that comes with their job."

Hiding lies & crimes behind a "Top Secret" classsifcations is an old tactic & the mark of a scoundrel.

I agree when it is referred to lies and crimes. I didn't make any comments about using classification to to hide lies and crimes.

No... I sure hope I didn't mean that. If I said that we should accept whatever our government tells us then you are perfectly allowed to come visit me and slap me upside the head. Holy crap I hope I didn't say that!! If I did I am very sorry.
However...even on our own soil, there are government operations that exsist, and you can question all year long, for your entire life, enlist CNN, 20/20, 60 Minutes but you still won't get the info you really want...because of it's classification. If that defines a dictatorship then I'll will agree we live in a dictatorship. In my honest opinion, I call it national security.

and good lord the three of us have something else in common also...I'm hopefully finishing a 2 week battle with a crappy cold. I swear it felt like pneumonia (or however you spell it) without the fever. Only thing that helped was rest...oh yeah...and a good debate
