Somerset County, NJ....GUN BUYBACK!!!

What a bunch of bullshit. Yes, I know...this happens in a lot of places but it really pisses me off when I see it. I just drove through Bridgewater, NJ on my way to a job and right on the 287/202/206/22 interchange is a flashing sign, "Somerset County Gun Buyback Program April 5th and 6th". I wanted to swerve my truck over the curb and take the sign out. Pisses me off.

I read through the town website on the buyback and it seems non-working firearms are destroyed but they don't say what they do with the ones that function. My guess would be they go into their personal stock.

A bunch did it in NY a few months ago with the police's blessing actually. They saved some nice treasures from being destroyed.

That actually happened at least one of these places, the dealers were offering better money on some of the guns... They are all sitting around waiting for Grandma to come in with that gun worth thousands and hand her a few hundred bucks.
