Trucl Load of Coal

Trucl Load of Coal

PostBy: Aldo8811 On: Sat. Mar. 23, 2013 8:43 am

So income tax refund is on its way, I am wondering how much an entire truck load of bagged rice coal would be. I wouldn't have to buy coal for a few years then. I talked to a trucker last fall and he threw out a dollar a mile for trucking.... here to PA and back would be a little better than a thousand dollars....

anyone have an idea what that much coal would cost..

If you are going to buy a whole truck load, bagged is not the greatest way to go, bulk would be a lot cheaper. That being said, there are 3 or 4 brands you can get bagged, some are 50 lb bags, some are 40.

How far are you from Lykens, PA?

Bagged rice is about $230/ton FOB.

Looks like you will spoil 600 miles one way.......Before you go nuts on a TT load of bagged, you better decide where you want to put it. The bags will degrade over time and with sunlight. You might want to get a buddy or two and see how that would work out.

I'm in the Bangor Maine area. 609 miles from coal territory. In January I was quoted $92 a ton delivery for bulk, granting a 24 ton drop. I had one other quote that was higher. That being said, the trucker phoned back about a week later. Fuel prices had dropped & he could do it for $89....but...prices have gone back up since then.

If you get bagged you need to have a way to unload the truck. That takes a forklift, a pallet jack, and a solid surface. They will not tolerate the time it takes for 21 teenagers to unload it bag by bag.
