I'm afraid this happens a lot here it seems. You have people show up only to hang around for awhile and then disappear. There have been several threads like this that never conclude. We can only hope that the person here will show back up at some point.
I'm still here, life got in the way and I never lit her last year. I intend to fire her on Halloween this year.

Hi there. Oh boy, I can't wait to see the stove all hooked up and running. You did such a good job on the restoration it would be a shame not see it operate.

Thank You! I look forward to seeing the finished product after you put so much effort in it. It is a great thread with alot of info for someone like me looking for rebuild info. Thanks to you too William. I have watched your videos and read many of your posts on baseburners. :notworthy:

Well, as promised.
As the story goes...this thing was a beast to reassemble. It took the better part of five tubes of stove cement. Eight if you count the three I had to chisel, scrape and fight to remove. All due to me breaking my own rule about mock-ups. I left out the last piece when originally fitting the stove for reassembly. You guessed it...that piece wouldn't fit without breaking down the whole stove.

I still need to assemble and make a stalk for the Finial. That's not going to stop her from being fired though.

As of now she's patiently waiting to resume the art of turning black rocks into affordable heat. :D

Don't know why the picture is like that?

Photobucket is the problem, for some reason, this board does not like it. Photos come out sideways and upside down. If you save the photos to your hard drive and then upload them, they will be fine.

P-bucket IS the solution. Those four pictures where uploaded directly to the site. :D every other picture in this thread is hosted on p-bucket. No problems with them. Only thing is that they some day could turn into those nasty little red X's. Kinda takes away from all off the work restoring and documenting it.

I know Richard would prefer we load direct to the server. That way we don't end up with missing links but... How the hell am I going to keep the coal in there with it being upside down.

I know others have had issues with Photobucket that is why I mentioned it. I have never had problems like this when I upload directly from my computer. I will try to upload them again for you.

She's sharp no matter which way she's facing. Great job and thanks for the pics. I'll look forward to one when she has that red coal fire shining through the mica. :)

hope it's not too late don't know if you polish the stove or painted . but for what it's worth I painted the stove polish on with a chip brush then polished it with a fine brass wheel on a cordless drill it came out so Well you could see in image in the finish man I love that stove wish I could find one but I might not have a bride if I bought another stove .

Thanks for the tip.

I applied stove polish with a terry cloth automobile waxing sponge. Then I buffed it with a terry/cotton towel. You can see it sitting on the floor  .

Eventually I'll buff it to a high luster but time is a major constraint for me right now.

I agree with you too as far as being a beautiful piece. I sure did step in poo finding it as close to home as I did. It is an amazing piece of art that was created by men with what I consider archaic tools at the time. I have a great respect for them and am honored to preserve their history.
