Whilst NG prices are set to soar I am piling into coal and my costs are actually going down. Beware all ye who are about to jump ship.....

" A Cornell University researcher came to the conclusion that shale gas was probably worse for climate change than coal.......Yes, shale gas might prevent total American natural gas production from dropping off a cliff even as conventional natural gas production continues to decline. And, at some point shale gas might even allow U.S. production to rise modestly above current levels. But, two things are now abundantly clear: It won’t be easy and it won’t be cheap."
They can't call you crazy if your right. Scratch that thought.

Most of that article is nonsense produced by those that hate and fear shale gas. The price, however, will increase. It has to. Power generation fuel switching from coal has taken up a huge amount of natural gas supply and, as pipelines and facilities are built, both that and export will take up the rest. You simply cannot have a fuel cost significantly less than other fuels nationally, far less than the same fuel internationally, and have that fuel have an end user high convenience/ low labor factor. This is not even considering the gov't/environmental incentives to use NG over heavy oil or coal.

I disagree.
If you read Kurts other articles the theme running through them is that on a global scale we are consuming so much energy that new finds in oil and gas just don't make that much difference. I don't think he hates or disapproves of any energy source and commonsense just tells me on shale he is right. The overarching theme is that we need all energy sources and then some. The liberals mindless dash from coal has and will produce energy shortages and that those vacuums will be a tough void to fill. It's much easier to shut a mine/powerstation than to open one as infrastructure degrades. I got a lot from reading his stuff.

The fact is it's a flawed article based on bad information and the writer's clear biases. His central premise, that gas prices will increase, perhaps dramatically over the next few years is correct, but he doesn't quite understand the real causes of that effect.

Been hearing that once obama grants the permits necessary (by playing politics, of course - his area of expertise), we will begin exporting NG like it's going out of style ... which is going to result in a big increase in cost.
I guess Europe & Japan are paying 10x for gas than we are right now. That sort of market is irresistible to exporters. I also heard once these same techniques are used on oil extraction, the price of oil will follow downward. Not holding my breath on that one. Obama's been dragging his feet on permits since Deepwater Horizon .... like that's going to happen everywhere ....

.. and that's how a job paying $180,000 a year has made this guy into a billionaire and the libs are to stupid to work it out. Once a blank slate, always a blank slate.
