And yet again, another new Executive Order

No Franco, Haliburton was not & is not the only one with the "required technology", there are actually quite a few that could have done the job. Who knows maybe someone else wouldn't have tried to mix electricity & water & some troops would still be alive today. Remember that was a no bid contract, no one else was ever even in the game but someone in the Whitehouse at that time was still on the payroll & most likely still is. What does health care & education have to do with paying for wars? Why is it when you want an answer even when given one if you don't like it you demand one you do but simply refuse to answer one either way yourself & simply change the subject once again? Has there been a stupid policy of actually paying for wars in the History of the U.S. & most likely every other country? Has not that burden been spread among all groups except the Vietnam War which was financed but clearly not spread among the population?

I assumed your point was that contracts were issued no bid and profits were excessive. Else why mention it? The complete truth of the matter I don't know and your view is probably correct since corruption is more likely than not.

Corruption is the point of your post concerning Halliburton which is why I mentioned other areas of corruption far worse than anything Halliburton did and far more costly, yet fails to get the hysterical treatment that Halliburton does. The answer to that must lie in the hypocrisy of the accusation in that it is to further political ends rather than good government.

We've all been sold out by left and right while washington lines its pockets.Lets face it k street bought off the so called leaders
and we let it happen.Don't forget the fed. reserve printing worthless money for the last 40 yrs,yes we made less money but it was worth something.Thats why now when i'm owed for electrical work,I take cash as last resort.

So for this Christian right leaning independent republican gun owner I'll take care of myself. And pray we as americans come to our sense's and vote out the snakes, that wont live by the rules they put on WE THE PEOPLE.

Klook, that's the way big contracts work, just look at all those that got a big sub-contract deal off of Halliburton they would have gotten one off of them. Just like lobbyist & Congress they each are in bed with one another, with the war it wouldn't have looked so bad. In the end nobody did anything but there went a lot of money for nothing & some of our troops killed. Halliburton had even lost the right to bid on Gov. contracts due to some of the crap they pulled in Bosnia & that wasn't even brought up.

You proved nothing with that rant. Give me links and names of companies that had the ability to replace Halliburton. Don' give me some late 60's hippy rant about Dow chemical and such. Facts man, I know you don't deal in them much. You just know stuff because it is obvious to you.

He's done it again. This time he is going after guns himself. Old military service weapons such as those used in WW2 are to be banned.(I hear alot of crimes are committed with M1 Girands). Call or write your congress person. If we allow this to stick he will press for others. Don't let him get his foot in you're door! :rambo3:

Klook, just to please you here is a partial list, there is no list of bidders actual because this became a no-bid contract (don't know which word in "no bid" you don't understand) but in my previous post if you look up the sub-contractors it would give a pretty good indication, this article gives some that would & could have. http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=129772&page=1
Here's another with more names & an explanation of how subs work. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/wo ... lose_x.htm

Great Sam, you are able to respond with something other then your own opinion.
Both articles are written by left leaning ass's when they were in attack Bush mode, something you know alot about. All of them donated to Rep. causes and I will bet they donated to Dem. causes as well because that is how you win no matter who is in charge.( I think you are always ranting about following the money ;)) But that was not reported.....wink, wink. If you dig deeper, you will find that other nations were not allowed to bid as Americans get pissed when foreign countries profit from our tax dollars.( Wow have we heard enough from you about jobs leaving the US!) Further, I will bet that many major companies had roles to play in the lucrative rebuilding because there are just so many people willing to go over there and be dragged through the streets by a bunch of 3rd century neanderthals. And I am being generous.
I had a friend that was working private security on the Syrian border and he tried to convince me to take my skills over there. There was a serious lack of manpower to do the rebuilding. My wages would be tax free and I would make 6 digits easy. I don't even like most of the people I have met over the last 35 years that come from overseas, let alone throw myself into their sphere of control and allow them to take a crack at me. I have not met one in a hundred that think our system is better then where they come from, no matter where, but here they are sucking up our resources and freedom. America would operate just like the Sudan if they had their way. If Obama had his way, he would send unionized labor over and it would cost 10 times as much.

Where are the links Klook, you always present your opinion to be a fact, where is your proof? A right opinion is just another opinion, why don't you ever back up what you say? I'll just leave it at that, it makes no matter you can provide information to someone but you can't make them comprehend. You believe what you want, I was asked by you & provided.

Because Sam, my opinion comes from people on the ground. Not rehashed and politically motivated sound bites. And most of my post was pointing out your own words, repeated over and over. Follow the money, blah blah blah. Halliburton was the third largest fleet of vehicles in the world after the US military and the Chinese military over 30 years ago when I worked in the oil fields in Texas. I had the chance then to go overseas and declined as I heard what conditions were like. Nothing has changed. Halliburton brought in many companies, it is the the way business is done. I can do anything in the task of building a house, but I sub out the things I am not as proficient at or don't like to do. Or don't have time to do. Down here, the contractors(Halliburton) could not pick up a hammer without hitting themselves with it. They are just pretty boy talking heads, going to dinners, hanging with the pretty people, and selling their products. Which they have no idea how to make it happen except for hire subs. It is how the world works and you just keep ranting about it because you are on the outside or your political party is on the outside. After all, big business must be Republican because a Democrat run business would have the best health care and all union workers with lucrative retirements and only work 8 months a year. They would soon run out of other peoples money. Or people willing to pay them for low production. That is why they need gov. contracts to survive. The endless taxpayers subsidy you know.

According to the report, in 2007, some 41 agencies were involved at some stage of the decision-making process. The State Department was initially put in charge of reconstruction, even though the majority of the funding came from the Department of Defense.

And how about that?
