Zero boiler pressure?

Zero boiler pressure?

PostBy: Pa papa On: Mon Apr 08, 2013 6:54 am

I always check the AHS 130, every day but this evening yikes! The pressure was 0psi. I quickly remembered I had closed the auto fill valve months ago (4?) to do some pluming changes in the house and forgot to re-open it. Upon opening it, the pressure was quickly restored to 12 psi. Everything seems normal now 12hrs later.
There are no leaks in the system that I've ever seen but I did have the system opened up last summer to add some valving. There are 3 zones on 3 floor levels and the highest level zone (bedrooms) we keep pretty cool. I've been running the boiler at 155-165* all season but with this warm weather yesterday I saw it up to 200* yesterday afternoon.
Just wondering if that upstairs level was air locked all this time and it finally cleared it's self?

Many folks will tell you what they "think" happened

I cannot tell you what I know happened because there are to many variables and unknowns

The important fact here is : The system is working and your comfortable

Kind Regards

Sting is absolutely correct, and you probably have solved your own mystery. If you did not set up the loops so you can power-vent each, that would be a quick and easy solution to any events like this happening again. ....another lesson on Hydraulic Dynamics, and old fashioned 'Common Sense'. Congrats, you have mastered another level!! You might consider a vent at the high point, also.

Murphy's Law says we will ALL do something like forget to turn on the feed valve for water supply......forget to turn the power back on to the device .....and drive off....oops. Next time, you should run each zone manually, and make sure you are getting heat through each one. No secrets, just a good policy. Then you KNOW that probably will not be an issue. You have to be smarter than what you are working on, or at least able to think out loud if you don't understand. I will NOT add any political commentary to that LAST statement, for obvious reasons............................. :!: :!:
