Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: AK-110

My wife works at night(ICU nurse) therefore sleeps during the day with the bedroom door closed. Needless to say if I forgot to go downstairs and close the damper in the morning before I go to work, the room gets to be 75* during the day while she is sleeping. I like it a little warmer, so in the morning I would have to open the windows in the bedroom to cool it down for her when she gets home in the morning. She likes the bedroom about 67* but the rest of the house 70-71* so what to do? I installed a automatic zone damper with separate thermostat for the bedroom and it works like a charm. I installed this last week and now I am bored again. Hmm what can I do next?

My wife likes a cooool bedroom (menopause) so we needed to design a zone dampener for our AK 110. I posted vermontday and Yanche about designing a automated air zone dampener that would interface with the ISS and change room temperature with the prediction of sun spots over Jupiter. Then I thought what would Freetown Fred do? So I bought bag of kindling wood at Lowes and kicked it over the register in the bedroom. It works perfectly, how did I do???? Can I get a grade for my fine work please!

Of course, you are a young whippersnapper who doesn't know the way of the world.... Besides which, old men have to pee a lot at night.

I like the kindling concept and my wife has mentioned the 'm' word more and more lately, this is coupled with her crazy talk of camaros and mustangs. My 10 year old son is trying to take advantage and trying to work her over for a jeep. But I digress, our register is under the bed and inaccessible partly because of all the stuff she has squirreled away over the years. (Anyone need an ab-roller?) This makes it more difficult to used the kindling concept. To CN's point, I have gone downstairs to flip the damper during my late night wanderings to the piss-stop cafe but that was getting old and I was a bit tired of stubbing my toes in the dark down there.

Oh, and Dave and Matt, I will take my cruise tickets to Alaska!!
