Bm, being old & grumpy, I'll take that candle concept over some new fangled gizmo that may or may not be accurate any day. Just an old farmers thoughts BUT---feel free to drill holes where-ever you want

BM how about a picture of your setup ???
But as was mentioned in this thread, as long as you can measure BEFORE the baro in the pipe, you will get the reading of the draft in the pipe itself.
Now as far as what the old grump said, the idea of using a manometer is to tell you how strong the draft is. Unless you can measure how far the candle flame gets diverted, it is best to go with the manometer..... Just a younger whipper snappers thoughts......

Ok, I measured both draft in the firebox and in the flue collar. Firebox at high fire is now -.02 and I used a short section of brake line tubing to get a measurement a few inches down inside the flue collar and it jumps between -.04 and -.05. I can open the damper on the DRAFT REGULATOR and blow on the fly ash inside it and it all gets sucked up the flue pipe on its way to the chimney!
