hey there JOHN, get me a price for a distributor for a 9n. just got one running and it looses spark after a minute. i want to pull it out but see a crack in the housing. theres a new cap rotor coil wires....ect but the points were dirty. some sand paper got em to make contact but i suspect the condenser is my issue. after the carb clean, tank clean, fuel strainer, ect.it fired right up and sounds good. .....for a minute. then in a minute it has spark again. looking for a back up it it falls apart while pulling it out ;)

I had a Ferguson TO-35 a few years back come here for a no-start/no-spark - very similar to the 2/9N Fords. Someone found a new ignition coil for it and threw it in, which then toasted the points to a cinder.

Primary resistance needs to be correct - they grabbed a coil with very low resistance, so the sparking was so bad the condenser couldn't handle it either. I bought new points, condenser, cap, rotor, & hooked up the old coil that was still bolted to the block. Been starting & running flawlessly every day since.

This was one of those....."sure, I can get it running" for ya things over at the fellow's place where Coalnewbie's Blue Blazer came from. It was running within a hour but shuts off.

I too think the cond. is shot from the wrong set up.

That wasn't mine, Fred - it belongs to the local shooting range. They still run it almost daily around the grounds. 8-)

The emblem on the engine brings a tear to my eye - the one with the White House in the background. Ahhhh what we used to be ..... :(
