Look at the tick under a magnifying glass. If it has a red butt,(not the time for jokes guys) it's a deer tick. You can see if you pulled the head off(again, not the time for jokes guys). If the head is still in you(ditto) then you need to go get it removed. The good news is, they have to bite you for a pretty good length of time for them to inject the critter that lives in side them. Keep an eye out for the "bull's eye rash".

It's like winning the lottery though, you're just as likely to die in a car accident.

Doug for future reference, they make special combs that get narrower as they get to the base to get them out or you need a very fine set or forceps. You have to get down below it's head.

Need a size reference - if it's tiny, it;s a deer tick.

I had 12 or so of those little bastards bite me between '09 & '11. Before '09, I had never seen one in my life - just the normal bigger ticks we all grew up with. Those little bastards carry lyme I guess, but I'm still kickin. The first red marks lasted 2 years, but subsequent bite marks went away in a few months. Very red, swollen and itchy for a little while there.

These days I trust doctors about as much as the government, so I avoid going at all cost.

Yep! That's a deer tick. See the red a$$. It doesn't look like he got you too bad and the head didn't come off when you pulled it out. Take a magnifying glass and identify the head for sure. The deer tick has to bite you for a minimum of 24 hours before the little spirochet in it's stomach regurgetates into your blood and causes Lymes disease. I have tested positive several times after being bitten. The test is most effective after a delay of ten days after the bite. The treatment is the same as for syphylis. The drugstore people always give me the evil eye when picking up the tetracycline.

If you contract Lyme disease you will feel sick. Not always a rash. That tick of yours looks too big to be a deer tick and it is not gorged with blood. i think you are OK but if you feel sick see a doctor.

You go to the doctor of course.

I once found a tick in the middle of my back. I went to the hospital for removal. It was in me about a week and was dead. The doctor at the hospital said it was dog tick and that I was fine. I told him I didn't care and wanted the medicine anyway. He protested, I then protested louder. Eventually I got my way.

That darn medicine for Lyme's makes you sick as hell. I was throwing up nearly daily. Few days I couldn't even go to work. It knocks the crap out of you.

Its a very small tick (the pic makes it look big because of S macro), I called the doc... he sayed nothing we can do unless you get sick  WTF! anyways... i do see his head and lil' front antlers so i think i got him all, the doc says being red, itchy and lil swollen is normal (the lyme circle is differant and shows up anywhere on the body in later weeks evidently).

Im going to start more precautions when i walk in the woods because this is BS BS BS! I dont have time to be getting sick with some killer virus :(

You got to be extra careful, they don't jump like a flea can you have to come in contact where they can climb on you then they may travel to what they consider the ideal drilling spot, even then they don't cause much pain at least at first.
