I'm really surprised that no one has posted on here since you can now go online and actually SEE how badly you've been screwed by the Democrats in Congress! My 27 year old son who digs graves for a living and has no paid insurance from his employer now under DemoCare is looking at a $550 a month el cheapo plan with a $6000 a year deductible. NOTHING, not even doctor visits, are paid until he reaches $6000! So he will pay $10,600 plus $6000 or $16,600 before DemoCare pays a penny. That is 1/2 of what he made last year! Now can ANYONE tell me how in the ..... the Dumbocrats thought this was a good deal for the NATION?
If ANY of those fools get reelected, then we are even dumber than they are!

I wish i could get some cost info out of carefirst - MD. I have been on hold multiple hours and disconnected multiple times since mid December trying to find out the cost of other plans they offer. A couple times I got to a brain dead borg that could tell me my current plans cost, (thanks but I have my last invoice to tell me that) but couldn't tell me what the other plan options would cost. She had to transfer me for that and i got disconnected when she did that. This is after being on hold for about an hour which makes for a bump in blood pressure. She suggested each time that i apply online but i decline to enter my ssn number on their site or the fed site to get that info. Besides they already have all our info in their system and should be able to spit out a change in plan cost for us.

Combined premium cost of our current plans is ~ $14k per year, add to that the deduct on my plan and the family deduct amount on spouse & kids plan and it goes above $20k. That is not happening here so I am still looking for alternatives, either a lower cost plan or no plan, banking the would be premiums and paying cash. Since we are the 'healthy's in the system I am willing to take that risk.

People who make $20,000 or less a year are being forced to buy into the lowest annual cost plan options, which are the ones with things like $6,000 deductibles. How does this help them?

The company I work for changed health insurance for the New Year ,old plan(the cheap one which is the one I had) was 80/20 with a $3000.00 deductible but the company paid $1500.00 of the deductible and I paid the other $1500.00 for a family with a $190.00/Mo premium (the company's premium was $14,500.00 for a total of $16780.00/year) that I paid, my new one is $230.00/mo I have to pay 100% of the $6000.00 deductible before the insurance co pays a 100% and I don't know what the companies premium is yet but I'm sure it's less then last year.If I were to get the better plan which was comparable to the old plan it would be $695.00/mo with a $3000.00 deductible paid 100% by me before its a 100% covered.Keepaeyeonit
P,S, I can't wait until 2015 I thing its going to get a lot worse!!!

If you make below a certain level you get a free ride on the backs of the working class. Those just above that level will be forced to become impoverished surfs. Can you imagine being forced to quit your job or take a lesser job in order to qualify for the free ride?

The people who 'get the free ride' are going to have a shock coming to them when they go to the doctors because, while they get some or all of their monthly premium paid by US!, they still have to pay off that $6000 deductible before insurance pays anything! It's going to be a revolt after people start going to the doctors and can't pay. My doctor and my optometrist both have signs up telling people because of the ACA (DEMOCARE), they must settle their bill with the desk before they will be seen. Just wait for the uproar! Tar and feathers being shipped to D.C. right now!'

'You have to pass it to see what's in it' is just about the dumbest thing anyone could ever say and still get reelected!

Maybe it helps you and me. What insurance did they have previously? Probably none. What did they pay if they had a serious accident or illness? Probably nothing or next to nothing -- as the saying goes, you can't get blood from a turnip. So you and I indirectly paid their bills via our insurance or our taxes. Now if they are forced to buy into a plan, they are at least contributing a little.

Right. And the company I recently retired from changed health insurance almost every year, before Obamacare, and it got more expensive every year. Except this year -- as I posted previously, my wife's COBRA coverage through the company got 9% less expensive this year, and benefits improved slightly. The benefit improvement was to conform to Obamacare rules. I don't know what accounts for the premium decrease, but if we're going to blame Obamacare for everything else I guess we should give it credit for the decrease.

But now we will be paying even for the ones who didn't have insurance before and didn't go to the Dr. In the past they cost us nothing.

I find it difficult to give this administration credit for anything positive in a purposeful manner. Must have been an over-site. They will get it fixed.

Good point. In the past some didn't go to the doctor -- I believe that method was called the Sarah Palin Death Panel.

According to the Weekly Standard, the taxpayers will be chipping in to cover insurance companies costs, and thereby protecting their bottom line. For example, for any medical claim where the medical coverage provided exceeds $45,000 the insurance company pays only up to $45,000, and then the US taxpayers pay the rest. This makes Obamacare a Fascist (I.E. the merger of state and corporations) scheme set up to keep the insurance companies from paying out the really big claims, by passing them all directly onto the taxpayers. The bottom line is that insurance companies are being insured by the taxpayers. The insurance companies have to be loving it. Those with pre-existing medical conditions will be getting their coverage for their big claims picked up by the taxpayer. We had to pass it to know what was in it. The next step of course is to have all medical claims fall upon the taxpayer, which would be the "single payer" system.

I thought that was Britain's NICE Board? You know? The people we are trying to emulate.

http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB1 ... 3435303415

The British officials who established NICE in the late 1990s pitched it as a body that would ensure that the government-run National Health System used "best practices" in medicine.

What NICE has become in practice is a rationing board. As health costs have exploded in Britain as in most developed countries, NICE has become the heavy that reduces spending by limiting the treatments that 61 million citizens are allowed to receive through the NHS.

In March, NICE ruled against the use of two drugs, Lapatinib and Sutent, that prolong the life of those with certain forms of breast and stomach cancer. This followed on a 2008 ruling against drugs -- including Sutent, which costs about $50,000 -- that would help terminally ill kidney-cancer patients. After last year's ruling, Peter Littlejohns, NICE's clinical and public health director, noted that "there is a limited pot of money," that the drugs were of "marginal benefit at quite often an extreme cost," and the money might be better spent elsewhere.
