For example, for any medical claim where the medical coverage provided exceeds $45,000 the insurance company pays only up to $45,000, and then the US taxpayers pay the rest. This makes Obamacare a Fascist (I.E. the merger of state and corporations) scheme set up to keep the insurance companies from paying out the really big claims, by passing them all directly onto the taxpayers. The bottom line is that insurance companies are being insured by the taxpayers. The insurance companies have to be loving it. Those with pre-existing medical conditions will be getting their coverage for their big claims picked up by the taxpayer. We had to pass it to know what was in it. The next step of course is to have all medical claims fall upon the taxpayer, which would be the "single payer" system.

The original drug evaluation is pretty thick reading, but here is part of it – very small benefit in life expectancy, but in fact it WAS recommended in certain situations where another proven and much cheaper drug couldn’t be used. Even though the study was not completed and had serious statistical and procedural errors, it sounds to me like NICE bent over backwards to allow use. So are you arguing that we should just hand a blank check to any company that comes up with a drug that wishful thinking says might “work” – when by “work” we mean that for $93,000 we can postpone certain death for three extra weeks, while a vastly-cheaper drug can do the same thing?

analysis of the entire study … showed that there was no statistically significant difference in overall survival for people who received sunitinib plus best supportive care … compared with people who received placebo plus best supportive care …

In summary, the Committee concluded that sunitinib could be recommended, within its licensed indication, as a treatment option for people with unresectable and/or metastatic malignant GIST after failure of imatinib treatment because of resistance or intolerance.

No. We're arguing whether or not government should stand in between you and your doctor.

I personally would rather have the option to punch my own ticket rather than extend my life another 2 months but government won't let me and my doctor do that either.

As long as physically capable they cant stop ya. I knew an older fella yrs ago the day his wife passed he decided was his last as well she was sick. I don't believe in it for stupid reasons like my GF left me and took the dog.

But the ins companies should not be able to take your money and say we are insuring you for the payment and then turn around and say well that is just too expensive we will have to let you go. If you decide to fight they took the gamble and should pay. I always said your Life ins co and Health ins co should be the same.
