Closed the bypass loop. Shower temp sustainable

Happy Sunday, Coal Gents.
The new 520 that Dave sold me is still working great. Wish I knew about coal years ago. The boiler temp stays nice now at 140 deg. Thats at 1 min of timer kick per 30 min. My daughter was not happy however with her shower temp . After thinking about it a few days it dawned on me that her showers are very long and mine are short. I never run low on hot water.

So I closed the bypass loop. Now the boiler keeps better temp at the top of its tank area were the DHW coil is. Daughter is not sending "NO HOT WATER" texts anymore.:)

Love this new rig !

Dave, a boiler temperature temperature of 140 is pretty low to allow reasonable hot water production via the tankless. Also, a timer cycle of 1 minute every half hour is going to maintain a very small fire...it will take longer to recover when there is a heat call.

I have had excellent results with EFM's recommended baseline settings. 4 teeth, 4 air, 2 minutes every half hour on the timer, 160/200/10 on the aquastat. Give it a try, and leave the bypass open.

What Rob said! At least 160 on the low setting. I'm at 170 right now, I usually drop it to 160 for the summer.
