Hi I have a problem. I had this timer put on a year and a half ago and it has been working like a charm. Well today my furnace ran and ran all day (I wasn't home and whrn i got home it must have been 150 degrees. Felt like a house sized sauna! The timer rotates but never shuts off. Any Ideas?
Unless you like surprises, I'd disconnect that timer immediately and replace it. You know you can use an 8865, 8845, etc. Do it now! You can replace the timer motor if you can get the mechanism, so do what you are comfortable with. I assume you have looked over the operation of the timer, and I have never seen one fail in this way. Remember you can pull the pins for now and your boiler will work fine without the timer, but the out-fire risk is present. Good luck!
Hi, Ill think Ill have my repairman just replace the timer or call him today and at least have him look at it to see what he thinks. Cold showers are not my style : ) I use the furnace all year to heat my water.
A few minutes with a voltage meter should sort it out. If there is power at the NO terminal in the timer all the time, the timer is messed up. If the timer is working properly, see if something is calling for heat that shouldn't be...a staple through a thermostat wire, etc. The aquastat could be faulty...turn the high limit way down and see if it prevents the stoker from running.
