Ray Harryhausen dead at 92.

While his work was before my time I still enjoyed a lot of the movies his monsters were in. There are too many to list here. His work is a lost art form that has been replaced by talentless hacks who create CGI monsters. They should all take lessons from Ray.

May you continue to create monsters in the afterlife.

I can assure you creating CGI animations requires a lot of talent and creativity with emphasis on the creativity part. Building a 3-D model is really not much different than working with a lump of clay. I have the skills to build many things however I'll never be an animator for Disney becsue I lack the creativity.

The CGI stuff looks fake. The stop motion looks believable and feels alive.

This link is broken, either the page no longer exists or there is some other issue like a typo.

You can download this program for free, this isn't even the proprietary pro stuff. There is lot of CGI in movies that you aren't even aware is there, but I guess that's kind of the point.

I've used Blender. It's and awesome program.

The point I'm trying to make is Ray's art is lost now. There are so few who do stop motion. He was a legend of the art.

As with everything time marches on, he was among the best of his time & craft if not the best & few could do it. The CGI get's better & better everyday & it also takes talent but sooner or later it too will be replaced & each time it will require less human talent along with less human labor & that's much of our problem with just about all things. As sure as we were born we will pass as well so you may as well make the best of it, he made his mark & now it's time to RIP.
