DIY How to duct tape a wheel onto a lawn mower

PostBy: Freddy On: Sat May 18, 2013 8:34 pm

I went to John's house today to mow his lawn with my zero turn Toro. I didn't make it one lap when my left front wheel fell off! All I had for tools was a jackknife & a hammer. The giant C-clip that sits atop the spindle had broken. I found a horse pin in my van that almost fit! (see pics) It worked a bit but kept popping off. I then duct taped it & it stayed the entire job. Should I buy a new C-clip or leave it like this? ;)

If it works for NASCAR and NASA why can't it work on a zero-turn mower? Nice fix!

Get it fixed, as your patch will only be temporary. (Someone had to take the contra position here ;) )

Now that's a Smitty approved repair right there. Duct tape held the mirror on my '85 Monte Carlo for 2.5 years - even after all the gray was gone & the glue dry as a bone, the fabric mesh still held that mirror in position, even during drunken 80 mile an hour trips down the backroads in all types of weather. :punk: toothy
