I don't understand what the previous vocation or avocation of a man has to do with his fitness as a President. Wasn't Jefferson a farmer and Washington a part time soldier and farmer?
Truman was a haberdasher. Kennedy was a playboy. Ike was a General.
What is it about being a lawyer that makes one more fit for office? More practice in lying and cheating? Excepting Jefferson has there ever been a true intellectual in office? What should be the conditions of previous experience or vocation that qualifies someone for office? There does not seem to be any. From what I can see candidates are elected by mostly uninformed people who have only a vague understanding of the issues and that applies also to many of the candidates.
