Wow! Thanks for sharing this. One of the best things about the northeast. Very few tornado's, Earthquakes are rare, and Hurricanes are usually pretty weak by the time they get here. Wildfires don't usually go to fast either, so they are easier to contain.

In 2000 I bought a 1960 Mack pumper (750 gall tank with a Hale pump - great prime) from upstate NY village somewhere for $2500 to water the horse rings. The engine had done 26000 miles from new in 40 years. New tires/exhaust/etc.. I think it was once used to put out the fire in Farmer Georges pigpen and to attend 4000 wet downs and parades. It was worn out the fire chief said and they needed a shiny new $400,000 unit. The village (that will remain nameless) honored their heros and stated 50% had died in the line of duty mostly from boredom, cirrhosis and renal failure ..... hahahahahahahaha. I would not have bought a fire engine from the high desert states. We should not be living there anyway - period. They have no water to sustain themselves and this is ending badly.

Yeah the northeast is pretty good in that regard. Less crime too, at least in MA suburbs. Too bad the politicians start wildfires by opening their mouths up here ... No such thing as a perfect state I guess ... unless you move south. ;)

Yes, let's go to Florida...

Snakes (BIG ones and poisonous ones), fire ants EVERY three feet unless you live in a concrete jungle, gallinippers, heat to melt your socks off, hurricanes (OK we had ours for this century), thunderstorms from hell, cockroaches/moths,centipedes etc. some the size your fist. Floods every summer in some areas, sink holes, sorry I need lunch before thinking of the other things. However, winter compared to ours is a cakewalk but heaven it is not.

Not THAT far south. :D ;) Place is getting overpopulated anyway ....... with people from MA! So you now what follows next ....

KY, TN, WV NC, SC, GA, MS ... I'd live in any one of those states in a heartbeat. If I had to chose, it would be a tough choice between KY & TN.
