this thread says it all My New Glenwood Base Burner!
This is a Large Glenwood Baseburner (I believe more rare and larger then a typical #6) but I will leave it to William and those who know about these better then me to let folks know that type of stuff.
I know I have not seen another one of these Jumbo's anywhere, but Ive seen many #6's.

If I had seen this before the glenwood 6 I bought I probably would have snagged it. I sure ended up paying Over 2x what you are asking for this.dcrane wrote:this thread says it all My New Glenwood Base Burner!

yea... from anyone like you who is clearly a SENIOR on the forum i'd let it go for 750 (that's about as cheap as I can justify for my efforts of driving, protecting and making sure its here for someone), These stoves are just not easy to find (at any price) so when they are found its good to grab em'!Smokeyja wrote:If I had seen this before the glenwood 6 I bought I probably would have snagged it. You should get this stove if it is still available. If you get it, have it taken to Emery at Antique Stove Hospital first and have it redone. It will be well worth the effort and expense. The Our Glenwood Series of Base Heaters is just fantastic beyond words, but; it needs to be redone. Emery is an expert at these stoves.gunloader55 wrote:looking for baseburner if you still have it im interested.thanks

Trust Emery and the advise he gives you. Crawfords are superb stoves. In fact they were in direct competition with Glenwood and the other foundries in the Northeast. I just got a Crawford 40 that I will be using this upcoming Winter. Tell Emery that you talked to us here on the Forumgunloader55 wrote:Whats the price of stove thats about what i'm looking for.Just talked to Emory about a crawford #4 and couple others he's going to send info on.Would need to find out cost to restore compared to ones he's got . This Glenwood has been re-built in its life already (this is not a stove sitting since 1905), the brick, the grate, etc. are MINT. The only thing Emory would have to do is take it apart (paint & polish) and then put it back together (no new parts to buy, no parts to be rebuilt or repaired). It has everything it came with including the roaster grate! The one and only thing that needs to be purchased is a shaker handle (I'm sure Emory has 47 of them out back in a pile )gunloader55 wrote:Whats the price of stove thats about what i'm looking for.Just talked to Emory about a crawford #4 and couple others he's going to send info on.Would need to find out cost to restore compared to ones he's got . I don't believe this Glenwood or even a #6 or #8 can be bought at any stove shop (frankly, I cant find one because they pre-sell before they ever hit the floor at one of these shops!)... if you know of a true "Glenwood" baseburner available reconditioned for sale at one of these shops... I would love to know about it!!! because I cant find one (they are ALWAYS "SOLD") they generally sell for $3000 and UP (its the Oaks or Dbl heaters that you sometimes see for slightly under $3k and are always available!)
Im asking $900 for this one (I don't think Emory could charge more than $1,500 to simply take it apart and put it back together, but you need to ask him... pics are available on my other thread that you can send to him).

Gunloader,
The Glenwood Modern Oak 114 that the previous post mentioned has been relisted at $800-something. IMO the Our Glenwood is probably the better stove. It is a base heater instead of an indirect back pipe heater and the Modern Oak shaker grate system wasn't as robust as the previous generation's (the 6's, 8's, etc.) The Our Glenwood has a circular, rotating "dump" grate that is simple and strong. You can also slice the stove by opening the small door above the ash box door to get at the ash bed.
Best of luck in your search!

That's how I got my 6 . I called Doug at Barnstable stove and he said he had just got a Glenwood #6 un restored so I asked him what I needed to give him as a deposit to restore it for me . I paid him that in an instant! I paid close to 3K fully restored and then a good deal more to have it crated and shipped . I was very impressed with the work done and the care in shipping .dcrane wrote:This Glenwood has been re-built in its life already (this is not a stove sitting since 1905), the brick, the grate, etc. are MINT. If you think about it I've ended up spending a little over 7k in my chimney , hearth and stove set up so far . Probably got another 1000 to go at least ! I get the lecture from my father of how I could have had central air for that money. Lol
So are you looking for one of these still?

Remind your Dad what he said on the first really cold day he is over there hogging up the best space next to the stove and how great it feels.Smokeyja wrote:That's how I got my 6 .
