In the two pictures below are shown the stoker mounting plate and its installed position in the base. In an actual install, the stoker would be mounted to the mounting plate and set into the base and secured. After that, the air pipe would be installed and then the pot assembly and cleanout rod and lever would be installed and adjusted.

For ease of viewing, the stoker mounting plate is not shown in the following pictures and explanation.

The air pipe (1) is fully inserted into the stoker assembly and the notch in the pipe is indexed with the Groove pin which is located under the air indicator plate (3). The set screws (4) are now fully tightened.

The pot assembly is then indexed to the stoker at a 90 degree angle using the notch in the air pipe and the roll pin (2) in the pot assembly. The set screws (5) are then full tightened.

The installed stoker can be placed on either side of the base depending upon the location of the coal bin.

The cleanout lever is installed. There are two choices of cleanout rod. The standard straight arm is for stoker units without the optional oil burner kit. The curved arm lever is for use with a stoker that has the oil burner installed directly above the stoker. Since the stoker can be mounted on either side of the base, depending upon which side the coal bin is located, there might not be a conflict with the oil burner and stoker clearances.

The eye is removed from the cleanout rod and the rod is inserted through the hole in the fan housing. The eye is re-installed and connected to the pot assembly as shown. Note the proper position of the eye casting. The cast number on the eye faces toward the ash tub.

The cleanout cover position now requires adjusting. With the cleanout lever in the closed position, the cleanout cover will be held under the wedge (red arrow) and the five cover ports will be closed.

When the cleanout lever is pulled back, the cover will open the five ports to allow coal fines to empty into the ash can. The cleanout rod spring will also be fully compressed. The eye must be adjusted, which effectively lengthens or shortens the cleanout rod. Keep a minimum of 3/8” of threaded rod engaged in the eye. The eye can be threaded in or out to achieve the port openings shown above. There is a point where the spring will fully compress and moving the eye will no longer have an effect on the port opening.
