If you don't want your cell phone conversations, text and e-mail to be heard or read, just get an account with Silent Circle.
They provide peer to peer encrypted communications. Works anywhere in the world where there is a Internet or Cell connection. Guess who is their biggest single customer? The government. Having such an account will surely put you on the watch list.
Before all of this NSA stuff became public, the Washington Post newspaper had an article offering advise to would be government whistle blowers. It said to report government wrong doing, buy two pre-paid service cell phones with cash. Don't buy them yourself but go to a poor neighborhood liquor store, and pay someone else to buy them. Don't buy two at the same store. Then, US mail one of the phones to the reporter you want to leak to. Mail the package from a mail drop box nowhere near a security camera and certainly not the Post Office. Include instructions when you will call, using your second cash purchased pre-paid phone. Make the call from some place you don't ever go. Remove the battery in the phone until you are ready to use it. Remove the battery when you are done with your call. Leave your own cell phone and GPS home. Clearly we are all being tracked or spied on, to some degree and it takes extra ordinary effort to communicate securely.
