My condolences as well to those that lost a pet. We had to euthanize our last Shepard around Christmas time 4 yrs ago. Its a tough thing to do.

Thanks guys. It is tough but it's the price you pay for their love and devotion. They depend on you to make that decision for them.

I've found nothing hits a Loving,Caring underneath it all Person harder than having to put a Pet Dog or Cat down, let alone finding one who has passed. and dammit, don't confuse my words with losing a Human, especially a Child. I think We All know the place Folks occupy.

But seriously,Pain generated by having to do the right thing has it's own Hell Place in Our Minds. We know what we've gotta do,but it just sucks beyond words. I don't get here very often, but I'm glad I did today, this morning. Leave room in Your torn-up Hearts to take the Love and Companionship You've received,no charge, from an animal that You've Loved and Lost, and roll it into a new animal that is void of that same Love. You've got the time, they've got the Love, and it'll be OK....... Trust a Soft-Hearted Insano such as myself,it will be OK ! :bighug:

CK, our last collie was the same age as your dog when we had him put to sleep. It is a very hard thing to do.
We no longer have any dog,but lots of cats get our love & attention .
It is easier to go on if you can give your love & attention to another animal.... dog or cat.

Sorry to hear about that CK. Hang in there and after enough time has gone by for you head to the rescue shelter. That seems to be the best remedy.

Thanks for all of your comments. I am ok. We could see this coming for quite some time and I had a chance to make my peace with it. Still the actual act buckles your knees. When you see, feel and hear the life go out of a close family member, well you all know what that's like. It's heart wrenching. A few back when we lost our golden retriever Riley, it came out of left field. No warning. I was devastated. A crying pile of goo. It took me a long time to get over that event.

We have another dog, Oakley. He is actually my daughters dog but when she moved out a few months ago, I convinced her to let him stay. She lives in the city and she is gone all day. He would hate that. So he's really my dog. He seems confused now. Missing his buddy I guess.

I know one thing. I share this forum with a really great bunch of guys. Thank you!

The cat-o-mometer seems to think the stoker is at the right temp this morning....

And seemed annoyed that i would dare walk past and disturb him.

In the picture above, I thought the cat was watching Rin Tin Tin, on an old RCA victor black and white tube TV.

Hey! Someone stuck in some goats in the bottom pic. Is that what your border collies do for fun? Round up the goats?
