Just wanted to post my limited results. I echo what has been said here by others. It burns very hot and with minimal ash. Having previously burnt only Stockton and Hazelton shaft in the past, this blows both away. Last winter I had more ash than I knew what to do with from them. Another thing I noticed was that it was sized slightly larger. I was told this was on purpose but I'm not sure. I know with Stockton and hazelton shaft I had a lot of fines and the rice seemed smaller overall. I got 5 tons of rice and will definitely order again. I can post more results once the temps drop more..

So one receipt says Lehigh and Poplar Sts. and the other says 1 Harmony Road. Where is the facility actually located. I'm taking my wifes cousin on Saturday 11-2 to pick up a few tons. Thanks.

Picked up 3 tons of rice there yesterday for my wifes cousin. Plenty of coal in all of the bins. Nice folks to deal with. Guy in the scale house said the ash is around 8%.

It's good to hear they're making a respectable go of it. Seems these days, the only thing constant is change. That's always been the case I suppose. The problem seems to be that the changes are coming fast and furious at about 500 miles per hour, one after the other! If this "Rebirth" pans out, then the stockpiling aspect of Coal as our solid fuel of choice comes available. Keep the results reports coming as it gives options to those of us that don't have easy access to the mines/breakers. Thanx again for this Thread ! :D

Good evening,
The following is a limited comparison between UAE Coal Corp and Mallard Contracting Company's rice coal. The UAE coal came from the mine about two months prior to them closing down (Feb. March 2013) and the Mallard coal came from the mine in June 2013. The coal was run though a 1967 EFM 520 coal stoker and was not used under a heat load other then to do domestic hot water for a family of three. The EFM was shut down and cleaned between the use of each companies offerings. It should also be noted that since the cold weather has returned (Zip Code 17563) I have been pleased with how the Mallard coal has been working. I am not getting as much unburned coal in the ash and as has been stated before the heat output has been on the upside. At the time of this post I am currently burning a mix of UAE, Mallard and shelled corn (25%/25%/50% respectively). Overall I still like the UAE better then anything else I have burned. I have well over 20 tons stored away and will mix corn or prune pits to make it last as long as possible. That said I do feel the Mallard Contracting coal is a close second. My findings are below:

Mallard Coal
44 Pounds to a 5 gallon bucket
85 Pounds @ 9-13-13 @ 2250hrs - (End: 9-17-13 @ 1015hrs)
Ash - 14 Pounds

UAE
40 Pounds to a 5 gallon bucket
70 Pounds @ 9-17-13 @ 1300hrs (Note: Only 70 pounds of coal would fit in the auger tube and trash can)
15 Pounds @ 9-19-13 @ 0730hrs
Ash - 10 Pounds
(End: 9-21-13 @ 1300hrs)

I was at the New UAE last Friday and I got 2-1/2 ton of Chestnut, and 1 ton of rice coal. The people there were very friendly and it was not a problem weighing twice to pay the nut and rice coal separately. It was $170.00 @ ton and the coal is very clean. My first impression of the nut coal is that it looked a little dull and not very glassy. I was concerned that it may be bank coal as bank coal is usually very dull looking. I have burned coal from the following mines - UAE, Blaschak, Jeddo, Tuscarora, South Tamaqua, American Premium, West Penn coal, LC&N, and Mallard contracting / Glenn Burn. So far I have to say the coal from the new UAE is the best I have burned in a long time! My weight slip says Glenn Burn Harmony mine. The only negative thing I can say about the new UAE is they did not answer their phone when I called repeatedly on the way there to make sure they had coal! By the way they had plenty of coal!
