Coffee July 13, 2013

PostBy: freetown fred On: Sat Jul 13, 2013 5:56 am

Mornin all. Seems like our coffee meister is off & running again this week-end,sooooo, I have once again agreed to hit the old BREW button. After a couple of real nice dry & cool days, it's raining like a bear here on the hill this AM. Come on in & have a cup & dry off a bit. I've got 2 more days worth of antibiotics with this pneumonia crap & hopefully that will be all wrapped up. Seems like a wood chuck has taken up residence in my hay barn & a baby woodpecker has taken up residence on my side porch after I doctored it up from hitting the old door glass. I'm starting to feel like Jack Hanna. Any-who, come on in & visit for a lil bit, enjoy the coffee & then get the hell out of here. My social skills have been taken to their limit  toothy Enjoy the week end everyone. Damn, mid July & the corn around here is mostly about knee high--not real good.

I made it for coffee! Good job pushing that button, FFred. Thanks! Good to know you can take care of us as well as the racoons & birds.

Keeaneye....Dat's a hellofa sweet lookin' rig there! Wow....they make some nice ones.

We are off to the 225th Orrington Anniversary parade. They asked for entries, anyone willing, the theme is "past, present, future". So.... I made up some temporary graphics for the electric car & we are going on a 2 mile slow ride this morning. I'm guessing we might bring up the end f the parade.... I figure,,,,..when the day comes that there only electric cars, you knows it's the end!!!

I think in the end we all go back to horses not electric cars. The US has more hydrocarbons than we know what to with (once we get rid of the the head clown), so don't hold your breath. However, I do admire your graphic arts ability. How did you do that? Very clever. Hey, FF ride a Clydesdale at the parade.

Morning all, I guess Fred is feeling like the corn crop, little slow! I am with Freddy, being from the cold extremes corn sometimes didnt mature at all in local gardens. Wow, that is some camper, I could live in it. Hope to have a small one parked on a lake lot here someday.
Just starting the move into the new house this weekend, had to put off the flooring till it comes in. Could not believe there is a 2 week wait for flooring in a higher population area like this. I could have got it just as fast or faster in Downeast Maine! Probably run a new wire or two today. The idiots that wired the Den, an 18x24 living room with a fireplace, used ONE 14 wire to feed 12 outlets, 2 eyeball recessed lights, 2 large ceiling fans, 2 outside flood lights with 2 bulbs each, and the outside light by door!!!!!! I cannot believe it worked, and didnt burn the house down. Thank god for breakers I guess.
Freddy, I ran over something that might have been a car like that the other day on I-75! Kinda like gum on your shoe. Stay safe in that oversized 4 wheeler.

Wow that's one hell of a camper! That thing would take down all the wires on my street! I'd rather be living in that than my house. Far more luxurious ... and easier/cheaper to heat!

Which reminds me ... gotta get my ass in gear about getting that boiler down the stairs here. Going to have some issues hooking it up - the connector pipe is going to have to go DOWN before it comes up, due to the height of the boiler and how low my joists are down there. Going to take a while to get everything sorted out, so I got to have it down there by September at the latest ... :|

Things are growing like crazy around here. Namely the damn grass!! Mowed for 2.5 hours last night and almost ran out of gas! Went about 2 weeks too long on that ....

We've got fruit galore forming out there. MASSIVE blueberries too. Everything seems back to normal from the terrible year we had last year on that front. Strange how so much can change in just a 2 hour drive west.

Fred, that old wool sock you've been using as a coffee filter really brings out that rich,mountain-grown flavor ! Seems the pneumonia brought out something too ! Here's to hoping everyone enjoys the living daylights out of their weekend !

Smitty, are those blueberries or blue cantaloupe? Geepers!

KLook wrote:The idiots used ONE 14 wire to feed........

Reminds me of our first house. It had four fuses for the whole house. One for the furnace, one for the outlets, one for all the ceiling lights and, of course, the 4th one was unused, it was a spare!! Amazing that neither of us burnt down.

Besides upholstery I make signs for a living. I have a computer driven razor blade that cuts self sticking vinyl. (actually I have three) Hardly anyone paints signs anymore, they are all computer cut vinyl. The only trick for these graphics was to make them so they'd come off easily. I sprayed the surface with silicone before the graphics went on. It was tricky to get them to stay at all! But, once they were on they did stay quite well. It took 2 hours to design, make and apply them. It took 4 minutes to remove them. Heeheee! It was fun.

:what:  I'd periodically check that breaker make sure she works :!:

I am extremely happy with the builders of my home. They ensured correct breakers and wire sizing, about 4 or 5 outlets per breaker, half upstairs light on one 20 the other side on another, all rooms outlets on their own, I could go on and on. Spent some money on it back in the late 60's they did. But the dumbshits who built the add on bathroom to the garage decided to run from a 20A breaker 12awg to a jbox(which could have been for the garage at one point) and then 14 awg feeders to bathroom and additional outlets in garage. All better now, only discovered it by chance when we decided to remodel that bathroom. Of all things to cut corners on, DONT SCREW AROUND WITH THE HOME WIRING! It could bite ya

Today was a good day, I got to meet up with the one and only "stoker Scott", show off my boiler setup, and drop a fresh EFM 520 in a neighbors basement. The fun almost ended when both of us got pulled over by New York's finest, but thankfully the trooper could see that we were pillars of society and let us off with no paperwork.

The weather was beautiful this afternoon, and tomorrow looks even better. I intend to finally take the boat out and burn off last years gasoline.
